Growing in Responsibility

ree

When someone mentions responsibility, big tasks may come to mind, such as caring for a sibling. Mundane tasks, like completing certain chores, may also come to mind. If responsibility is thought of in this way, it may seem like one can only be responsible when they have a huge or uninteresting task to do.

However, there are many ways to practice responsibility that are smaller and more personalized for the particular person involved. For instance, caring for plants is one simple way to practice responsibility that does not take a lot of time and effort. Just watering your plants and looking after them can be a way to practice this valuable skill. You will feel rewarded when you see your plants flourishing, and you would also have grown your responsibility as well!

There will be times when you do have to practice responsibility in the big or mundane ways as well. If you feel overwhelmed by these tasks, it’s best to break them into smaller pieces or find a way to make them fun to complete. An example would be a babysitter who makes her experience taking care of younger kids fun, and therefore the time moves so quickly she doesn’t even think of the responsibility she bears.

So the next time you find yourself in a situation where you need to be responsible, keep these tips in mind. Hopefully your experience will be enjoyable and you will grow in responsibility as well!
