According to the Microsoft Bing Dictionary, the definition of kindness is “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate”. It would behoove us to have these qualities, as being kind to others can make others want to be kind to us. Most people actually like those who are friendly, generous and considerate, and they will want to be friends with them. Being kind will make us happy as well, as making others happy often makes oneself happy.
But what if the person you are kind to isn’t kind back? In fact, what if they think that your kindness makes you weak and they continue to be mean to you?
It is still your responsibility to be kind to them, no matter how they respond. As a matter of fact, think of being kind to them as a gift you are providing them, and maybe one day they will be kind themselves. Also, others will see your example which can cause a ripple effect of kindness to be spread throughout your environment. They can also stand up for you, and maybe the person that is not being friendly to you will turn from their ways faster.
So be kind to those you see, as kindness is key. You will feel happy and make others feel free!
