Being respectful is an important character trait. With it, boundaries are recognized and validated, conceit is disempowered, and unity can flourish. Honoring another person’s desires and feelings displays self-control and esteem, impacting those around you. Respect for others is respect for yourself in a way, as it demonstrates your care for another person and that you possess a sense of self-worth and honor. Regardless of feelings, a strong sense of respect can keep your actions in check around others, and forming this positive habit is only worth it in the long run (although as with any habit, it will take time to form!). Honoring the wishes of others is one of the many ways to make someone’s day, and we personally believe that happiness from such an act uplifts everyone it touches! Whenever a friend, parent, sibling, teacher–any other human being, really!--comes your way, pay them the respect they deserve, and uplift them and yourself for the greater good.
