Thinking About Others!

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in our own thoughts and ideas. We may think about an important project that we have to do, or words that people said to us that we did not like. However, in times like this, it is important that we step outside of our world for a bit, and make sure we are treating others kindly in spite of our own thoughts.

When first thinking about this, however, it may seem a bit difficult. After all, you can only know what you yourself are thinking. How can you know what the other person would want done to them?

This is where Matthew 7:12 comes in: do to others what you would have them do to you. You may not know exactly how others may want to be treated, but you can treat them how you would want to be treated. For example, if you are aggravated with a sibling for not doing something you told them to do, you can calmly remind them of it instead of yelling at them. When you do this, not only will you feel better about yourself, but others will want to be around you, as they know you to be a kind person who thinks about others instead of only yourself.
